An Introduction to Oil Painting
How to use oil paint, exploring colour-blending and using different techniques such as ‘Fat over Lean’ to create a successful oil painting on canvas. This class is suitable for all abilities from the complete beginner to more experienced. Guidance is given and, as always, all materials are provided.
Basic Printmaking
Explore basic printmaking techniques, from dry point etching to mono printing and lino printing – all techniques are possible to do at home without specialist equipment. This one day course provides a great introduction to this versatile specialism using at least three different techniques.
Ways with Pattern
Learn to tesselate and create intricate tiled patterns – repeating patterns and creating your own intricate and detailed painting. Looking at the work of William Morris and exploring organic forms such as flowers and leaves to create our own patterns.
Reduction-Method Lino Printing
Learn to print like a professional artist; this economical technique that can be easily done at home without a specialist press, began with Picasso in the early twentieth century. Using one just one piece of lino create a multi-coloured print in just one day.
