Braintree Community Centre Reopening Event

The Community Centre are having an event to officially re-open, to “receive” the new apple tree from Dolphin WI, and for the re-dedication of the Community Heroes Plaque (previously located in George Yard). The Chair of Braintree District Council, Cllr. Sue Wilson, has accepted the invitation to come to represent the community at the event and to accept the Centre’s thanks for the local Community Grants they have recently received. New Classes Starting Soon!

Our classes have started back, but are on a staggered start with some not returning until September. Do register your interest because classes are beginning to fill and first registered will be offered early chances to join in. Further classes are going to be added as they develop, so do keep an eye on the classes page!   We’re pleased to announce that we will have several new classes available as the Centre fully opens again over the next few weeks, including a new sewing group, watercolour painting, pilates, yoga, and Italian. Community Heroes Plaque

The Community Heroes Plaque was established by the former Braintree Chamber of Trade and Commerce, in memory of members of the community who have given great service to our community: David East, George Shiffner, David Posee, Jean Stock, Ken Few, and Ann Rolls We are now seeking nominations as the Plaque is being renovated and erected on the outside of Braintree Community Centre. Whilst there are some already agreed additions, we are seeking to identify other community minded people whose name should be included. Welcome Back! – May 2021 Update

Hello and welcome back to our world! Our website is now being updated with the new classes and activities we are offering coming out of the lockdowns of the last 12 months! We expect most of our groups and classes to start again from mid-June onwards (assuming no changes with the roadmap out of lockdown).  Most of our tutors will been working through the summer holiday this year, rather than stopping for a break the way we normally do. COVID-19 Update: February 2021

The Centre is planning to reopen formally from June 21st 2021 – we are pleased that with the announcement of the Govt. “Roadmap” we can plan for the Centre to reopen to full and Covid-secure functioning. There will be more information forthcoming – please watch this space!

Braintree Open Online Art Exhibition 2021

COVID-19 Update: January 2021

As we go back into lockdown, the Centre will remain open only to essential permitted health services. However, the office is staffed (although at reduced days) to deal with any telephone and email enquiries you may have. The BBCA Annual General Meeting 2019-20 will be held via Zoom on Tuesday 26th January at 7.30pm – full details on how to attend will follow soon. We wish you a happy new year!
